About Me

My interest in massage and bodywork began in my early 20's, when I was involved in a fairly severe car wreck. Thankfully I was able to function and work, but after getting treatment for years and not getting the relief I was seeking, I began researching causes of chronic pain and what I could do about it, not only for myself, but for others as well.

In 1993, I became a Licensed Physical Therapist's Assistant (LPTA) and in 1995, I became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). As an LPTA I worked in the Austin area at St. David's Hospital, Seton in the Rehab, ICU, home health, and Skilled Nursing facilities, and at Lost Pines Physical Therapy as an assistant to Elizabeth Parker, PT.

Ms. Parker was able to teach me many of the techniques that I continue to use in my practice such as Muscle Energy, Strain/ Counterstrain, Functional/ Indirect, and Myofascial Release. This was extremely fortunate for me as I treated her clients with those methods under her supervision and expert guidance. When she moved her practice out of state, I began working as a PTA for Rehab Choice, at Monte Siesta Retirement Home in Austin, until 1999.

Since then I have continued educating myself with several courses, see *here* for a partial list of them. I became particularly interested in CranioSacral Therapy, and have taken several courses from the esteemed John Upledger Institute. More about this wonderful modality can be found in the "Techniques" section.

I have now had my practice for 20 years. I absolutely love my work and plan to continue as long as I possibly can. Recently I have completed some coursework in Visceral Manipulation 1 with the Barral Institute. If you think I may be able to help, call me at 512-459-8821 and I will be glad to work with you!
